North Myrtle Beach, S.C. (WPDE) — A two-year project to improve and replace the power and water lines in Cherry Grove began today, Jan. 17.
According to the City of North Myrtle Beach, Carolina Conduit Systems has been contracted to complete work on Ocean Boulevard in Cherry Grove between Sea Mountain Highway and 29th Avenue North.
The first phase of construction will involve the installation of underground conduit beneath Ocean Boulevard. Water lines will also see improvements.
While the project is underway, a portion of Ocean Boulevard may be closed to traffic at certain times of day.
When Ocean Boulevard is closed, visitors will detour around the work zone by way of Nixon Street.
All properties on the affected section of Ocean Boulevard will remain accessible to owners and residents.
Construction crews have said there will be minimal interruption for those attempting to access individual properties.
